Let’s talk about something that can make or break your wedding day: your timeline.

As a wedding photographer and videographer who’s traveled all over capturing love stories, I’ve seen the impact a well-planned (or poorly planned) timeline can have on how the day feels. A solid timeline helps keep the stress low, the vibe relaxed, and ensures you actually enjoy your day instead of feeling like you're racing the clock.

If you have no idea where to start, don’t worry—I’ve got you. Here’s a simple cheatsheet to help you create a timeline that flows beautifully from start to finish.

⏰ The Wedding Timeline CheatSheet

Here’s a sample for a traditional wedding with a first look and a 5–6 hour photo/video package. Adjust based on your ceremony time and the unique details of your day!

9:00 AM – Hair & Makeup Begins

  • Make sure your beauty team knows how many people they’ll be working with.
  • Pro tip: Ask them to have the bride ready at least an hour before the first look or portraits begin.

12:00 PM – Photographer & Videographer Arrive

  • We’ll start with details: dress, rings, invitations, shoes, perfume, etc.
  • We’ll also capture candid moments while you finish getting ready.

1:00 PM – Bride Gets Into Dress

  • This is a great time for emotional photos with your mom, siblings, or best friends.
  • We usually step in and help with bustling the dress or final touches!

1:30 PM – First Look

  • A private moment for just the two of you.
  • We also capture your reactions, hugs, tears, and joy from multiple angles.

2:00 PM – Couple Portraits

  • Golden time for romantic shots, especially if you want nature, city, or scenic backdrops.
  • We’ll walk you through relaxed posing and genuine prompts.

2:30 PM – Wedding Party Photos

  • Bridesmaids, groomsmen, and full group shots.
  • Keep your group hydrated, fed, and having fun—this part can be a blast!

3:00 PM – Family Formals

  • Make a list in advance of the combinations you want.
  • We keep this moving fast and organized so no one gets overwhelmed.

4:00 PM – Hide Away Before the Ceremony

  • Time to breathe, freshen up, and get tucked away before guests arrive.

4:30 PM – Ceremony

  • The big moment!
  • We capture everything from multiple angles—your vows, your guests, your reactions.

5:00 PM – Post-Ceremony Celebrations

  • Hugs, confetti toss, champagne pop—this is candid moment heaven.

5:30 PM – Cocktail Hour

  • While guests mingle, we can sneak away for golden hour portraits (if light allows).

6:30 PM – Grand Entrance & Dinner

  • Announce the wedding party, do a fun dance, and settle in for speeches and toasts.

7:30 PM – First Dances & Cake Cutting

  • This is where the emotion shines—your first dance, parent dances, cake, and candids.

8:00 PM – Open Dance Floor + Sunset Shots (If Applicable)

  • We’ll grab a few more portraits if the sunset is 🔥.
  • Then it’s party time—we’ll be on the dance floor capturing all the fun!
