One of the questions I get asked most often is, “What should my kids wear to their mini session?” And it’s a great question—outfits can make a big difference in the final look of your gallery!

For our Watermelon Minis, we’re working with a bold red-and-white picnic setup, American flags, and (of course) real slices of juicy watermelon. I recommend keeping your child’s outfit light and playful with colors that complement the backdrop.

✅ Top outfit choices:

  • Red, white, or denim
  • Stripes, polka dots, or solid colors
  • Overalls or summer dresses
  • Barefoot is totally okay!

💡 For little boys: Want to keep it super simple (and minimize the mess)? Shirtless is totally welcome! A pair of cute shorts, bare feet, and a watermelon in hand make for some of the most adorable, summery shots. Plus, it helps avoid staining favorite shirts!

🚫 Avoid:

  • Big logos, cartoon characters, or busy graphics
  • All black or dark colors (they blend into the background)

Think timeless and sweet—just like the memories we’re capturing! Bonus tip: pack a backup outfit or wipes just in case your little one gets extra enthusiastic with their watermelon munching (and let’s be honest... they will!).
